Man Charged In Murder Of 38-Year-Old In Montauk Park

A Montauk man has been arrested and charged with the murder of another local man found dead in a park with numerous head injuries.

Joseph Grippo, 47, was arrested at 3:47 p.m., Thursday, June 20, for killing Robert Casado earlier this month, said the Suffolk County Police.

Casado, 38, was found around 7:30 a.m., Thursday, June 6, by a person who then called police reporting an unconscious man in Kirk Park, police said.

East Hampton Town Police responded, and found Casado who had suffered head injuries and was transported to Stony Brook Southampton Hospital where he was pronounced dead, police said.

Grippo was held overnight at the East Hampton Town Police Department and is scheduled to be arraigned at East Hampton Town Justice Court on Friday, June 21.

Details surrounding the murder were not available.
